I first started painting in 1987 after a road accident.

In 1990 I was awarded a Silver Grenfell Medal for botanic art by the Royal Horticultural Society for an exhibit of Illustrations of Irises. In 1994, after painting various species of the Lychnis family, I was awarded a bronze Grenfell Medal.

In 1992 I joined St. Helens Visual Arts Forum and gained much experience in exhibiting.

I have also had work accepted for both the Stockport and Chester Open Art Exhibitions.

I continue to paint flowers in a botanical style and have taught Botanical Illustration at St. Helens College.I still take great pleasure in painting flowers but there are more challenges to be met. These take the form of trying different media such as pastel, acrylic and oil. Together with new subjects such as still life, landscapes and some experimental work with an airbrush.

Last year I took part in the Creative Industries St Helens project and my details can be viewed at http://www.creative-in-sthelens.org

Further to my training with DecoArt I am now a DecoArt 'Helping Artist' teaching and demonstrating the Brush Strokes method of painting.
